Many of basketball’s top rights-holders have pooled their rights to create an online pay-per-view service which is due to launch this week, TV Sports Markets understands.
The rights-holders include Fiba, the sport’s world governing body, the Euroleague, the national leagues of China, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina, and the VTB united Eastern Europe league. More rights-holders are understood to be set to join in the coming months.
The content will include live matches and full delayed matches on demand. Subscribers will pay either an annual fee or a monthly fee to access the content.
The platform has been developed in collaboration with digital media specialists the Perform Group.
Further details of the project will be published in the next issue of TV Sports Markets on June 14.
