Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has acquired the exclusive Australian rights to football’s Spanish Liga and Italian Serie A for the next two seasons.
The new agreement comprises the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns and will allow Fox to broadcast two live matches each week with an additional two matches on delay from both leagues.
Live broadcasts of derby matches between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid and Torino and Juventus will kick off the contract this Sunday.
The deal further bolsters Fox’s football content. The broadcaster in November signed a three-year extension for exclusive rights to the English Premier League from the 2013-14 to 2015-16 seasons.
Fox also broadcasts the domestic A-League under a four-year deal from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
