Gazzetta TV, the Italian sports channel operated by the RCS MediaGroup, could close down, according to multiple reports in the country.
The channel has accumulated costs of €10m ($10.8m) in its first year, the Calcio Finanza website reported. Advertising revenue is reported to have been between €5.5m to €6m.
RCS is considering suspending broadcasts at Gazzetta TV to avoid racking up more significant costs and would also consider selling the channel.
A decision on the future of the channel is likely to be confirmed on December 21, the report added.
RCS’s losses widened year-on-year in the first nine months of 2015, through to the end of September, from €93.1m to €126.4m.
