Genius launches live streaming for betting operators

Betgenius, the sportsbooks supplier arm of sports data and technology company Genius Sports, has launched a live streaming service giving operators access to new content from sports competitions.

Derived from its deals with official rights-holders across multiple sports, Genius Sports claimed that the service features “thousands of low latency streams including content which has never before been available to sportsbooks.”

International operator bet365 is among the first sportsbooks to go live with the product, with more partners to be announced in the coming weeks.

Today’s (Tuesday’s) announcement comes a day after Genius Sports publicised its entry into the field of video production with the launch of its GeniusLive end-to-end streaming and OTT platform. The creation of the service followed the acquisition of Brussels-based streaming and performance analysis company Oppia Performance.

Genius Sports’ business model has, until now, been focused around its data and integrity partnerships with rights-holders. Unlike rivals Sportradar, IMG Arena and Stats Perform, Genius has previously not been active to any significant extent in acquiring betting streaming rights.

Sportradar’s Betradar Live Channel currently offers over 40,000 events, a portfolio it advertises as the “largest in the industry.”

Genius Sports said that by focusing on fixtures played at off-peak times, the service allows operators to offer a more engaging experience, enhancing bet placement and customer retention during quiet scheduling periods.

All video, captured direct from pitch or courtside, is paired with official data and live betting services, and features API integration.

Jack Davison, chief commercial officer at Genius Sports Group, said: “Our close relationships with sports rights-holders across the world have given us access to new, high quality streaming content which will significantly enhance our sportsbook partners’ in-play products.

“Combined with fast, accurate data on thousands of fixtures, this is a new and cost-effective way to attract more customers with a complete and immersive live betting experience.”

GeniusLive already works with a dozen leagues and federations, including the French Volleyball League (LNV), Belgium’s Euro Millions Volley League, the volleyball federations in the Czech Republic and Portugal, plus the Dutch Basketball League.
