Andrew Georgiou has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Lagardère Sports and Entertainment division of media conglomerate Lagardère.
Georgiou (pictured) has been appointed to the role by Arnaud Lagardère, general managing partner of Lagardère CSA, the holding company of Lagardère Group.
Georgiou has served as chief operating officer at Lagardère Sports and Entertainment since 2014 and has overseen its global sports and entertainment businesses.
He has been with this company for 10 years, previously serving as chief executive of subsidiary operation World Sport Group, managing its business throughout Asia.
Arnaud Lagardère said: “Over the past two years Andrew has done an outstanding job, guiding Lagardère Sports and Entertainment through a complex integration process while demonstrating his ability to grow the company’s global capabilities and to develop the business in new areas. The business is now performing well and I trust him to lead the next phase of growth for the division.”
Lagardère Sports and Entertainment was formed in September 2015, when Lagardère Unlimited, the sports marketing division of Lagardère, unified all its agencies under a single commercial brand name.
Arnaud Lagardère stated at the time of the division's creation and at the latest group investor day that he would be handing over the management reins of Lagardère Sports and Entertainment when the time was right.
