Hong Kong government buys Tokyo 2020 rights, five channels to show coverage

The Hong Kong government has acquired the broadcast rights to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and will allow five local broadcasters to air the rescheduled Games.

The “one-off” deal was made with Japanese advertising giant Dentsu, which holds the broadcast rights for the Games for 22 Asian countries up to Paris 2024, and was completed last Friday following “tough arrangements”, Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam told journalists today (Tuesday).
