Pay-television broadcaster i-Cable has acquired rights in Hong Kong to football’s Russian Premier League.
The deal will run for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, which resumed on June 19 following its suspension amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, and will also cover the 2020-21 campaign.
In February, i-Cable acquired the exclusive media rights in Hong Kong for Japanese football’s J.League under a three-season deal covering 2020 to 2022.
The broadcaster’s football portfolio also includes the Uefa Champions League and Europa League (from 2018-19 to 2020-21), which it shares with rival pay-television broadcaster PCCW.
The i-Cable contract comes after the Russian Premier League this month announced a broadcast deal spanning 11 countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The agreement with sports broadcaster Q Sport covers Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
It was earlier announced that Russian sports broadcaster Match TV would make its coverage of the Premier League free-to-air for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
