The International World Games Association plans to launch its own online video channel as an additional media platform for the top events of its member associations.
The federation, which organises multi-sport event the World Games, said it has received “positive reactions” to an initial presentation of the initiative during the SportAccord IF Forum, which was held last week in Lausanne.
The IWGA said it will now proceed with the project and aim to launch the channel early next year.
IWGA president Ron Froehlich said: “The World Games Channel will be at the heart of our media strategy in the coming years. Already in Cali (host of the 2013 World Games), the access figures showed that our sports attract the interest of the fans. A permanent platform is now needed that makes our events accessible, for example via live streaming and highlight shows.”
