US wrestling organisation the WWE has added another key market to WWE Network’s global footprint, with the pay-television channel set to launch in Japan on January 5.
Japanese wrestling fans will receive WWE Network free for the first month before having to pay a monthly subscription fee of $9.99 (€9), the same pricing as in the US.
Subscribers will have access to the US English language version of WWE Network and get all 12 WWE pay-per-view events at no additional cost, as well as 24/7 scheduled programming and a video-on-demand library offering more than 4,000 hours of content.
“Japan is strategically important for WWE given our passionate and engaged fan base in the market,” George Barrios, WWE chief strategy and financial officer, said. “The global expansion of WWE Network is critical to the continued growth of our brand internationally.”
WWE Network will also launch in Germany on January 5.
