Kenyan free-to-air television platform Bamba TV has launched a new 24-hour sports channel in the country.
The new channel, Bamba Sport, will be co-owned by Kenyan broadcaster KTN and media company Radio Africa Group. Coverage will include sports news, football highlights and local events.
It is hoped the launch of the new channel will help promote Kenyan sport, with plans in place for Bamba Sport to sponsor local leagues.
“In the coming weeks the station will announce a broadcast sponsorship of one of the leagues in local sport and we are inviting all federations who feel we can work together to come to the table to talk with us,” Carol Radull, head of Bamba Sport, said, according to Kenyan newspaper The Star.
“We have 24 hours a day to dedicate to sport and while we do show international sport there are plenty more hours in the day to dedicate to ourselves.”
