Russian pay-television broadcaster NTV Plus has agreed a five-year production and distribution contract with pan-European club ice hockey competition the Kontinental Hockey League.
The agreement, which runs from 2015 to 2019, follows a tender process launched by the KHL in April.
The tender invited bids from a company that could create and deliver a television product that meets international standards of quality in the field of sports broadcasting. It also involved the production and distribution of the league’s KHL-TV and KHL-TV HD channels.
The KHL said its new deal with NTV Plus will provide the league with cost savings of up to 30 per cent in delivery of the channels, while also improving the quality of television production.
Along with broadcasting regular season games and matches in the post-season Gagarin Cup, KHL-TV offers other events affiliated with the league.
