Mixed martial arts promoter the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Mexican media group Televisa have announced that their new UFC-dedicated pay-television channel will launch on September 1 across 20 Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, according to the Terra website.
Jaime Pollack, senior vice-president and general manager of development in Latin America for the UFC, said that UFC Network would be available to all pay-television broadcasters in the region.
Bruce Boren, director general of Televisa Networks, added: “In looking to offer richer content to our affiliates, UFC Network presents a unique proposal, reiterating the commitment of Televisa Networks to provide the highest quality programming and stay at the forefront of the pay-television market.”
The UFC and Televisa Networks in May announced an exclusive distribution agreement, along with the plan to launch a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week UFC channel featuring the world’s best MMA programming including premiere live UFC events.
UFC Network will offer viewers across Latin America, with the exception of Brazil, access to championship fights and over 35 live events per year as well as the opportunity to experience legendary fights from the UFC, Pride FC, WEC and Strikeforce organisations; equalling more than 20,000 hours of content.
The UFC Network will also feature original programming such as reality series, all broadcast in Spanish.
