The Learfield Sports agency has signed a multimedia rights agreement with the athletics division of Saint Louis University in the US.
The deal will run for five-and-a-half years, from 2015 through to the end of 2020.
Learfield will manage multimedia rights for all SLU athletics teams. The deal covers rights such as signage, sponsorship, event marketing, radio play-by-play and coaches’ shows, as well as television and athletic sponsorship on the university’s SLUBillikens.com website.
The deal also covers third-tier television rights for SLU men’s home basketball games.
As part of the deal, Learfield will establish Billiken Sports Properties to manage the rights. John Satorius will serve as general manager of the new division, which has been named after the SLU Billikens sports teams.
The agreement will mark Learfield’s fourth multimedia rights deal with teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The agency has similar deals in place with Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Duquesne. It is the first time in school history that SLU is outsourcing its comprehensive athletics rights.
