The Spanish Football League (LFP) and Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have joined forces to call on the country’s government to “urgently” approve the legislation that would allow the introduction of collective rights selling in the Liga and Segunda Division, the top two divisions of the domestic game.
In a joint statement, the LFP and RFEF said the centralised rights model would benefit all of Spanish football.
The LFP and RFEF added that the text of the new regulation should represent the two bodies, along with the clubs and players’ union the AFE, in order to ensure the “best performance” of the centralised model.
The clubs recently urged the government to introduce the legislation as soon as possible, and there are hopes that the new model could be introduced as early as the 2016-17 season.
