The International Surfing Association (ISA) has launched a new mobile application that will allow fans to stream coverage of the upcoming World Surfing Games.
The ISA has launched the app in association with the French Surfing Association ahead of the event, which runs from May 20-28 in Biarritz, France.
The app, entitled ‘WorldSurfGames’, will enable users to live stream the competition from anywhere in the world and will feature news, statistics, results, photos and videos. The app will be available on iOS and Android devices.
The news comes after the ISA last month signed a content partnership with the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Channel platform. Surfing will make its Olympic debut at the 2020 summer Games in Tokyo.
ISA president Fernando Aguirre said: “This app will set a new precedent of how people watch our sport. It will combine live streams with real-time updates that you need to follow the competition in as much detail as possible. We hope that this app can set a precedent for how we engage digitally moving forward and in Tokyo.”
