Malawi state-run broadcaster snaps up World Cup rights

State-run Malawi Broadcasting Corporation has acquired exclusive rights for football’s 2014 Fifa World Cup national team tournament.

The deal includes coverage of all 64 matches.

The broadcaster’s director general, Benson Tembo, told the NYASA Times news service that all coverage would be shown live or on a delayed basis if there were ‘interruptions.’

The Africa Union of Broadcasters has been responsible for distributing rights for the tournament in sub-Saharan Africa, with the exception of Nigeria and South Africa.
