Russian state-backed broadcaster Match TV has confirmed that it will provide full live coverage of the upcoming winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
Last week, Match TV’s general producer, Tina Kandelaki, said that the broadcaster would show the opening ceremony of the Games.
However, according to the Tass news agency, Match TV will provide blanket live coverage across its Match! Arena, Match! Igra and Match! Nash Sport channels, with its main channel showing the opening ceremony on February 9.
Match TV will also show daily round-ups from the Games, with a focus on the Russian athletes participating.
Last week, state-owned broadcaster Channel One also confirmed that it had acquired rights for the Games via the Telesport agency. Russia was the only European territory excluded from media group Discovery Communication’s 50-territory deal for Olympic Games rights across Europe from 2018 to 2024.
