The New York Racing Association has joined forces with FS1, a channel operated by the Fox Sports division of US network Fox, to broadcast coverage of this year’s edition of the Melbourne Cup Australian horse racing event.
The agreement will represent the first time that the race will be televised live in the US.
The Melbourne Cup is a two-mile race that takes place each year at Flemington Racecourse. This year’s event is scheduled to run on November 7, with coverage to be broadcast live at local time in the US on November 6, due to time difference.
The FS1 telecast will begin at 21:30 Eastern Time on November 6, with coverage and analysis to precede a live broadcast of the race at 23:00.
The 2017 Melbourne Cup immediately follows this year’s edition of the Breeders’ Cup, one of the showpiece events on the US racing calendar, which runs from November 3-4.
