Maltese telco Melita has announced that it has passed a landmark 100,000 subscribers for its TV service.
Melita claims this means the telco now boasts 60 per cent of the Maltese market’s share after a report by the Malta Communications Authority showed it to be the nation’s fastest growing telco.
Melita’s package costs €32.99 ($36.75) per month eight HD channels with a host of premium sports rights. The telco currently holds the Maltese rights to properties including the Uefa Champions League and Europa League, Italian Serie A and German Bundesliga.
Simon Poljask, TV and Fixed Services Manager at Melita Limited, said: “Melita continues to grow its business across multiple segments as our significant investments in our people, technology, and content continue to bear fruit. As TV customer viewing behaviour and expectations change and despite competition, including from illegal IPTV services, Melita continues to offer excellent picture quality, with a mixture of content and flexibility which is clearly appreciated by viewers.”
Melita agreed a joint venture with fellow Matlese telco Go last year in an effort to curb widespread piracy in the nation.
