Mountain West conference strikes regional deal with DirecTV Sports

DirecTV Sports and its Root Sports regional sports network has agreed a multi-year rights deal with the Mountain West US college sports conference.

US satellite pay-television broadcaster DirecTV Sports and its Root Sports-branded regional sports network has agreed a multi-year rights deal with the Mountain West US college sports conference.

The Root Sports Rocky Mountain network will annually produce and televise approximately 10 American football games featuring Mountain West teams, and a minimum of 25 intra-conference and non-conference men’s basketball games, beginning with the 2013-14 season.

With the addition of San Jose State University and Utah State University on July 1, the conference will comprise 11 all-sport members and 12 football-playing institutions.

Currently, the Mountain West membership includes: the United States Air Force Academy, Boise State University, Colorado State University, Fresno State, University of Hawaii (football only), University of Nevada, University of New Mexico, San Diego State University, UNLV and University of Wyoming.
