The MP & Silva agency has secured global media distribution rights for the International Handball Federation’s showpiece men’s and women’s World Championships.
The exclusive deal will run from 2019 to 2025, the IHF council announced following a meeting in Antalya, Turkey.
MP & Silva will dislodge the IHF’s current partner, beIN Media Group, which had the rights from 2015 to 2017.
The men’s and women’s World Championships take place every other year. The 2019 men’s World Championship will be co-hosted by Denmark and Germany, with the 2021 event set to head to Egypt.
Japan will host the 2019 women’s World Championship, with Spain staging the event in 2021. The 2017 edition of the women’s tournament will take place in Germany from December 1-17.
The IHF launched the tender for the rights in September.
The global rights include production of the four events.
