The Olympic Council of Asia and the MP & Silva agency have announced that they will establish a new OCA Broadcasting Services company for the continental body's multi-sport events.
The company will be based on the same model as Olympic Broadcasting Services, the company created by the International Olympic Committee to oversee the host broadcaster function for the Olympic Games.
MP & Silva has been appointed by the OCA to manage the venture.
A joint MP & Silva and OCA production tender will be released by the end of the week, with a view to identifying production partners for the venture.
“By internalising the broadcasting production, the Olympic Council of Asia and MP & Silva intend to set a new production standard for multi-sport event coverage and to give more visibility to other OCA competitions, other than the Asian Games,” MP & Silva said.
The agency’s chief executive, Andrea Radrizzani, added: “This is a historic moment for the Olympic Asian sports movement because the top quality of production that we will bring to the final TV product will make the Asian Games and other OCA events much more appealing to different audiences worldwide.”
