Sony-owned Indian broadcaster Multi Screen Media has secured rights deals for the English FA Cup and Italian Serie A club football competitions.
The agreements were brokered by the MP & Silva agency, the rights-holder for the FA Cup and Serie A in the Indian subcontinent, and will run for the three seasons from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
Serie A and FA Cup matches will air on the Sony Kix channel having previously been shown by MSM’s pay-television rival Star Sports.
The traditional English football season curtain raiser, the FA Community Shield, is also included and will be the first match broadcast under the agreement when Premier League champion Chelsea faces FA Cup holder Arsenal at Wembley on August 2.
The FA Cup and Serie A join a strong portfolio of football properties held by MSM including the Uefa Euro 2016 and 2018 Fifa World Cup national team tournaments, as well as the European qualifying matches for the two events.
