Virtual reality broadcast technology company NextVR has partnered with the United States Tennis Association to provide highlights coverage of the latter stages of the US Open grand slam tournament.
NextVR is covering the men’s and women’s singles semi-finals and finals ahead of the tournament’s conclusion on Sunday. The initiative began with yesterday’s (Thursday’s) women’s semi-finals, which saw Karolina Pliskova (pictured) and Angelique Kerber progress to tomorrow’s final.
Multiple cameras have been installed at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium to provide viewers with a variety of different angles. The highlights are being made available on-demand after each match.
A VR tour of the redeveloped Arthur Ashe Stadium, which has been fitted with a retractable roof for this year’s tournament, will also be offered to fans.
NextVR’s coverage continues later today with the men’s semi-finals, with Novak Djokovic taking on Gaël Monfils, and Stanislas Wawrinka facing off against Kei Nishikori. The winners of the two matches will meet in Sunday’s final.
