Olympic Broadcast Services, the company created by the International Olympic Committee to oversee the host broadcaster function for the Olympics, has agreed to work with Fila, the international wrestling federation, on new ways to present the sport at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
The two parties will study the potential inclusion of a mini point-of-view camera on the referee, while the possibility of introducing biometrics data into coverage will be explored along with new lighting, outfits and time management in an effort to make the sport more entertaining on television.
Wrestling, which is in a fight against squash and baseball/softball for a place at the 2020 Games after originally being cut from the Olympic programme, requested the meeting with OBS.
