Ohio retains top spot in 2018 SportBusiness Postgraduate Course Rankings

Ohio University’s Master of Sports Administration course has been named as the best postgraduate sports management degree in the world for 2018 by SportBusiness International.

The Athens-based college was handed the award at the ongoing NASSM 2018 Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where academic leaders from across the world of sport management are currently meeting.

It is the sixth time in the seven-year history of the rankings that Ohio has come out on top, and the fourth time in succession. The University of Massachusetts Amherst, or UMass, came second, with George Washington University in third. The winner of the 2014 award, the Fifa Master at the International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES), came in fifth place globally and was named the best postgraduate sports degree in Europe.

Below, see the top three schools from each category in the rankings. Later in the week, look out for our in-depth report, featuring the top 40 sports courses worldwide alongside breakdowns of the top 15 in North America and Europe. The report also includes features and interviews looking at new courses breaking into the market, what makes San Diego State University so popular with its alumni, and the growing phenomenon of online learning.

The report will be published in issue 243 of SportBusiness International magazine, available in July, and as a supplement to delegates of the NASSM 2018 Conference, which runs from 5th to 9th June.
