Australian telco Optus has renewed its exclusive rights for the English Premier League for the next six seasons, in a deal running from 2022-23 to 2027-28.

The Premier League is the most valuable football media rights property in Australia and the deal secures the strong position Optus has built in the sport at a time of increasing competition. Rival broadcasters, particularly Network 10/Paramount+ and Nine Entertainment, have made inroads into football this year and were expected to also bid for the rights.
