Digital sports media company Perform is in advanced talks to acquire sports data company Opta, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The report said that venture firm Albion Capital, which owns Opta, has put the data company up for sale for £40m (€47.1m/$61.2m).
The newspaper added that the transaction is expected to be completed in the next two months.
Since listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2011, Perform has acquired a number of companies. Last year, Perform completed a €120m takeover of another sports data company, Runningball.
On Friday, Perform announced the appointment of Ian Campbell as its new commercial director. Campbell has been working as a consultant since leaving his role as managing director of Press Association Sport, a division of the UK's national press agency, in 2010.
