Perth Lynx sets WNBL first with broadcast deal

Australian Women’s National Basketball League team Perth Lynx has announced that two of its upcoming games will be shown live on commercial broadcaster Seven.

The team’s home matches against the Dandenong Rangers on December 11 and the Adelaide Lightning on December 18 will both be shown live and for free on the 7Two channel in Western Australia.

It will mark the first time that WNBL games have been broadcast on commercial television.

The games will also be streamed live in Western Australia on the Plus7 Live service, before being made available to interstate viewers via the 7Plus catch-up service the following Monday.

The initiative will seek to introduce new audiences to the WNBL, which has been without a broadcast partner since public-service operator ABC ended its long-running coverage in 2015.
