Pluto TV, the free, ad-supported streaming service owned by US media group ViacomCBS, will launch in Latin America next month.
Currently present in the US and Europe, Pluto TV will be made available in Latin America at the end of March. Brazil is expected to receive the platform, which specialises in content developed by editorial teams on a live, linear basis, by the end of 2020.
An initial 24 channels will be made available across a range of genres, including sports channel Pluto TV Deportes. Programming will be offered in Spanish and Portuguese, with Pluto TV to be made available via pay-television platforms, its own website and through iOS and Android apps.
Tom Ryan, chief executive and co-founder of Pluto TV, said: “We see massive opportunity and consumer demand for a high quality, free ad-supported streaming TV service throughout Latin America and therefore are excited to introduce viewers in the region to Pluto TV very soon.”
ViacomCBS acquired Los Angeles-based Pluto TV for $340m (€307.8m) in January 2019.
Pluto TV boasts a total of 130 network partners in the US market, including Fox Sports, Eleven Sports, Glory Kickboxing and Impact Wrestling.
