Telecommunications company Portugal Telecom has confirmed the acquisition of a 25-per-cent stake in domestic pay-television broadcaster Sport TV.
The deal was first announced last August, but was subject to due diligence.
Portugal Telecom’s Meo platform said that the other three shareholders in Sport TV – rival telcos Vodafone Portugal and Nos, and the Olivedesportos agency – would also hold 25 per cent each.
The deal gives Meo access to Sport TV’s content. Sport TV shows the top tier of Portuguese football, the Primeira Liga.
