The German Volleyball Federation (DVV) has agreed partnerships for its Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) club competition with media company ProSiebenSat.1 and online sports television channel, Sportdeutschland.TV.
Under the deal, terms of which were undisclosed, ProSiebenSat.1 will become the marketing partner of the VBL, while Sportdeutschland.TV will provide live streaming in HD of all the league’s games.
Sportdeutschland.TV, which had been operated by the DOSB New Media arm of the German Olympic Committee (DOSB), has previously partnered with the VBL. The enhanced relationship has been formed after ProSiebenSat.1 in July completed its acquisition of a majority stake in DOSB New Media.
Oliver Beyer, chief executive of DOSB New Media, said: “The collaboration with the Volleyball Bundesliga worked just fine last year. With the commitment of ProSiebenSat.1 this opens up other perspectives. Due to the variety of Sportdeutschland.TV we are able to attract a wide television and internet audience. What is new is that in the future, as marketers, ProSiebenSat.1 will operate a sports league.”
