Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain was the top-earning side from the top division of French football’s media rights income in the 2013-14 season, according to French newspaper L’Équipe.
PSG earned €44.685m ($60.8m) from media rights. Olympique de Marseille, which finished sixth, earned the second most with €41.861m. Olympique Lyonnais, which finished fifth, earned the third most with €40.994m.
Monaco, which finished second, earned the seventh most from media rights revenue, with €29.537m. This is because the rights payment is also based on league positions over the past five years, and Monaco spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons in Ligue 2.
Relegated club Ajaccio earned the least – €13.166m, more than 30 per cent less than the amount earned by PSG.
Each of the three relegated clubs – Ajaccio, Valenciennes and Sochaux – will be given a parachute payment of €2m by the league in the 2014-15 season and €1m in the 2015-16 campaign.
