Rightster to stream AFL action worldwide until 2016

Online video distribution and marketing company Rightster has extended a deal to stream live coverage of games from the Australian Football League, the top division of Aussie rules, on a global basis.

The new agreement will cover the next three seasons of the AFL, from 2014 to 2016.

Under the deal, Rightster will continue to manage the league’s international live streaming service, which is available outside Australia and New Zealand. The AFLTV service, which launched earlier this year, offers live and on-demand coverage of every AFL Premiership match.

Rightster said that it would continue to work with the AFL to develop additional features, content and digital initiatives.

According to the league, viewers from 216 different territories accessed more than 2.5 million streams of games through AFL TV during the 2013 Premiership campaign.
