Australian public-service broadcaster SBS has extended and expanded its rights deal with the National Basketball League domestic club competition.
In 2016-17, SBS broadcast one game live each Sunday through its SBS and SBS HD channels, as well as coverage streamed online.
It will now show two live games from each round of the 2017-18 season across SBS and youth-orientated channel SBS Viceland, as well as provide live streaming and catch up on SBS On Demand.
NBL chief executive Jeremy Loeliger, said: “SBS’s decision to double its coverage is a strong endorsement of the league as it celebrates its 40th season. We are particularly excited SBS will broadcast Saturday games at 5.30pm which we believe will be a hit with audiences along with Sunday games at 3pm and build further exposure of the NBL.”
The 2017-18 NBL season gets underway on October 5, with Sydney Kings v Adelaide 36ers clash on October 7 chosen as the first SBS live game.
