Australian public-service broadcaster SBS is to switch coverage of the A-League to its SBS One channel to ensure more prominent free-to-air coverage of the domestic club football competition.
After the broadcaster's coverage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup national team tournament this summer on SBS One proved popular with Australian audiences, SBS has now opted to move the A-League to its main channel.
From the start of the 2014-15 season, SBS will broadcast live A-League matches on SBS One and simulcast on SBS HD every Friday night.
SBS’s rights deal for the A-League runs for four seasons, from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
