Australian commercial broadcaster Seven has acquired rights for aquatic sport’s Fina World Championships.
The deal with Fina, the sport’s global governing body, will cover the 2015 and 2017 editions of the event in Kazan, Russia and Budapest, Hungary, respectively.
The exact length of the “long-term” agreement was not disclosed. It includes free-to-air and pay-television rights, and also covers digital, mobile, online and hybrid broadband broadcast television platforms.
Seven was the first major broadcaster in Australia to show live primetime coverage of the championships in 1998.
For the 2013 championships in Barcelona, Spain a broadcast rights deal was not secured in Australia.
