UK pay-television broadcaster Sky has acquired exclusive domestic live rights to Kell Brook’s IBF World Welterweight title defence against rising US boxing star Errol Spence, which it will exploit via its pay-per-view service Sky Sports Box Office.
Fighting at Bramall Lane stadium in his native city of Sheffield on May 27, Brook will be making his first appearance since his fifth round loss – and only professional defeat to date – to Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin in September.
Brook first claimed the IBF World Welterweight belt in 2014 with a narrow win over American Shawn Porter. Undefeated challenger Spence became the mandatory challenger for Brook’s belt when he defeated Leonard Bundu in August.
The Brook-Spence bout adds to Sky’s boxing portfolio for 2017, which includes Anthony Joshua’s world heavyweight unification title fight against Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium on April 29.
