New Zealand telco Spark is closing its Spark Sport subscription streaming service, with public-service broadcaster TVNZ expected to acquire the majority of its sports rights portfolio.
TVNZ will hold most of the content currently held by Spark Sport, subject to agreement with sports rights-holders, from July next year. Spark and TVNZ are now in discussions with the sports bodies and any intermediary agencies regarding the transferring of rights.
