Sportsman and Red Bull form new company to promote WRC

The Sportsman Media agency and Red Bull Media House media firm have formed a new company to market the media rights to the World Rally Championship motor sport series.

WRC Promoter GmbH is based in Munich, Germany and will be responsible for the marketing of the championship in accordance with the agreement Sportsman and Red Bull reached in October 2012 with the International Motorsport Federation (FIA), motor sport’s world governing body, to promote the WRC.

Oliver Ciesla of Sportsman and Jona Siebel of Red Bull Media House will head up the new venture as managing directors.

WRC Promoter is responsible for all commercial aspects of the WRC, which includes broadcast formats, television production and the marketing of global media and sponsorship rights.

The WRC currently consists of 13 rallies across the world, with the next event being the Acropolis Rally, which will be staged from May 31 to June 2 in Loutraki to the west of Athens, Greece.
