Singaporean pay-television broadcaster StarHub has acquired rights to broadcast Spanish LaLiga football in the country.
The multi-year agreement will see StarHub broadcast matches on its SuperSports 2 and SuperSports Arena channels, the latter of which is a free-to-air cable television platform, and also through its StarHub TV and StarHub Go streaming services.
LaLiga football had not been broadcast in Singapore for three months prior to StarHub’s announcement. BeIN Media Group had held rights to LaLiga in Singapore, along with five other Southeast Asian markets, but does not yet operate in the country. StarHub has secured its LaLiga rights through an agreement with beIN.
The deal began last week with the broadcasting of Real Madrid’s match against Real Sociedad on December 30.
“Our broadcast of LaLiga underlines our commitment to football fans in Singapore,” Howie Lau, chief marketing officer of StarHub, said. “We always take the feedback from our customers seriously and have been working hard to bring LaLiga back to Singapore screens.”
