Start-up proposes new Russian Premier League online channel

A start-up company called Novyye Media has submitted a proposal to Russian football’s Premier League to establish a new online channel for the property, according to the Sports.ru news website.

According to Ilya Rustamov, the chief executive of the new company and a former executive at the league, the channel would have non-exclusive rights for the league’s games.

“We want to create a channel of Russian football that would be shown on the internet,” Rustamov said. “We have submitted a bid for the rights to the Russian Premier League, but it is important to note that these would be non-exclusive.”

Rustamov said that the start-up had offered $1.5m for the rights and would incur further production costs.
