SuperSport, the pay-television broadcaster that operates in sub-Saharan Africa, will today (Thursday) live stream its first sporting event via social media platform Facebook.
SuperSport is offering a live stream of South Africa’s Varsity Football Final between the Tshwane University of Technology and University of Johannesburg.
The game will be offered for free via SuperSport’s football Facebook page and is available throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Francois Pienaar (pictured), South African rugby union legend and founder of the Varsity Sports organisation, said: “This is a first for us and we believe this will open Varsity Football to a much wider audience.”
Gideon Khobane, chief executive of SuperSport, added that the broadcaster will continue to explore various streaming options on multiple digital platforms, including SuperSport.com.
