Australian pay-television broadcaster Sky Racing has agreed a rights deal with Tasracing, the governing body of horseracing in the state of Tasmania.
Tasracing said Sky Racing, the media business of gambling conglomerate Tabcorp, has secured national and international broadcast rights for Tasmanian racing for the next 10 years.
Tasracing chairman Dean Cooper said the new arrangements provided Tasracing with guaranteed access to key international markets. “This is important as international broadcasts of our racing provided a record A$475,000 (€320,000/$358,000) in returns to the industry last year,” he added.
Along with the broadcast deal, Tabcorp has also sealed a new three-year sponsorship agreement. The contract grants its corporate bookmaking business, Luxbet, naming rights to three of Tasmania’s racetracks.
As of July, Tasmania’s three main tracks will be Luxbet Park Hobart, Luxbet Racing Centre Launceston and Luxbet All Weather Devonport.
