Ten Sports chief executive Rajesh Sethi has revealed that the Indian pay-television broadcaster has plans to launch more channels.
Ten Sports currently operates the Ten 1, Ten 2, Ten 3, Ten 1 HD, Ten 2 HD and Ten Golf HD channels, and Sethi has confirmed that further high-definition and regional services are being considered.
“We have plans to launch other channels, including another HD channel,” Sethi told TelevisionPost.com. “Regional feeds are presently being explored. This would depend on two factors, namely popularity of the sport in the specific region and advertiser interest. We already have WWE (wrestling) in Hindi on Zee Cinema, which has been hugely received.
“Regional/Hindi feeds have seen a significant amount of interest. Based on market research, there is an opportunity for the same in the Indian market and we are continuously experimenting with newer avenues.”
