French digital terrestrial television channel TMC has announced it has secured the exclusive live domestic broadcast rights to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup.
The rights had been held by TMC’s parent company, commercial broadcaster TF1.
French newspaper Le Parisien reports TF1 launched a consultation to attract bidders for the rights but the only offer made, that of pay-television broadcaster beIN Sport, was considered insufficient.
TF1 has now elected to assign the rights to TMC, which will broadcast the Confederations Cup when it takes place from June 15-30 in Brazil.
