US organisation TNA Wrestling said it hopes to reveal a new UK rights partner in the near future after digital-terrestrial television channel Challenge said it would end its long-running coverage.
Challenge has broadcast TNA Wrestling events in the UK since 2011, but has said it will not extend its current deal when it expires at the end of this year.
The Sporting News website noted that the agreement is a key one for TNA as the UK has been one of the strongest markets for the promotion.
TNA’s current domestic television deal with cable and satellite channel Pop TV is based on a revenue share; the broadcaster does not pay a rights fee.
TNA said in a statement: “Our goal is to broadcast Impact Wrestling in the UK as close to the US premiere as possible. We look forward to announcing that opportunity soon, so stay tuned.”
