TVE picks up rights to Madrid’s Tie Break Tens event

Spanish public-service broadcaster TVE has acquired rights to the upcoming Tie Break Tens tennis event in Madrid.

TVE will broadcast live coverage of the single-day event, which will take place on May 4 at the Caja Mágica.

World No.5 Kei Nishikori and home favourite Feliciano López will compete in the men’s competition, while five-time Grand Slam champion and former World No.1 Maria Sharapova will feature in the women’s draw.

The Russian star is currently serving a 15-month ban from the sport after failing a doping test during the 2016 Australian Open. Sharapova (pictured) confirmed last month that she would return to action at the Stuttgart Open in Germany on April 26 – a week before Madrid’s Tie Break Tens event.

Tie Break Tens events do not feature sets and are decided via tie-break matches. The series will travel to Madrid following successful events in London and Vienna.
