W-Sport launches in sub-Saharan Africa as first step in planned global rollout

W-Sport, a new women’s sports television channel co-founded by Mickey O’Rourke, chief executive of Premier Sports, and Kelly Butler, former chief executive of Setanta Africa, has launched in sub-Saharan Africa in the first phase of a planned global rollout.

Following a soft launch at the start of July, the channel has launched fully in 16 countries across the region with its full slate of live rights.
