The All England Lawn Tennis Club, organising body of Wimbledon, has renewed deals for the grand slam tournament with broadcast partners in France, Spain, Japan and the Middle East and North Africa.
In France, pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports has signed a fresh five-year contract running from 2019 to 2023, while Spanish telco Telefónica’s new four-year deal runs from 2018 to 2021.
In Japan, public-service broadcaster NHK has committed to a new five-year agreement running from 2019 to 2023, while beIN Sports will continue to cover Wimbledon in the Mena region through to 2025.
Mick Desmond, commercial and media director at the AELTC, said: “The investment we are making in our Master Plan, in our brand through In Pursuit of Greatness, in our production through Wimbledon Broadcast Services, and in our digital, content and audience strategies has been recognised by our partners as proof of our intent to continue to build on and grow our commercial product in support of these partnerships, and to ensure that we are working collaboratively with the interests of all of our brands at heart.”
The 2018 edition of Wimbledon commenced in London today (Monday).
